At science exhibition, high school student Peter Parker was bitten by a common house spider that had been exposed to massive doses of radiation. Within hours he began developing spider-like abilities: superhuman strength, speed, agility and reflexes, the ability to cling to any surface and a 'spider-sense' that alerts him to danger.
Donning a spider costume and a pair of web-shooters, he became a novelty television star under the stage name "The Amazing Spider-Man". One night, after a performance, Peter stood idly by when a thief was trying to escape. Days later, this same thief murdered his Uncle Ben and so Peter learned - in the hardest way possible - that "with great power there must also come great responsibility".
In 2012, Peter's long time arch-enemy, Otto Octavius, switched bodies with him, leaving Peter in Octavius' dying body. Within Spider-Man's body, Octavius starts his new career as a hero, putting his past as a villain behind him. With the powers of Spider-Man and the brilliant scientific mind of Doctor Octopus, Octavius seeks to surpass the 'Amazing Spider-Man' becoming the 'Superior Spider-Man'. Octavius also re-engineers the Spider-Man costume, adding carbonadium plating over his neck and skull, talons on his hands and feet, enhanced lenses, HUD and tracking abilities.< LESS
