Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock, a telepath, briefly took over her brother's role as Captain Britain, but was blinded and nearly killed by the supervillain, Slaymaster.  Betsy was abducted by Mojo and given bionic eyes, restoring her sight.

She was rescued by the New Mutants and joined the X-Men as 'Psylocke'.  As a long-time member of the X-Men, Psylocke fought for the peaceful coexistence of mutants and humans.

Psylocke's life was changed forever when Spiral, working for the Hand crime lord Matsu'o Tsurayaba, switched her mind into the body of his lover, the ninja-assassin Kwannon.  Now Asian, she was brainwashed into become the Lady Mandarin, the supreme assassin of the Hand.

Rescued by Wolverine, she regained her free will and rejoined the X-Men.  Here, Psylocke had a long-standing relationship with her X-Men teammate Warren Worthington III (aka Archangel).  Savagely attacked by Sabretooth, Warren used a mystic artifact known as the Crimson Dawn to heal her.  The after effects of the Crimson Dawn gave Psylocke the ability to teleport in shadows, but she had to sacrifice her former powers of telepathy to fight the Shadow King.

Psylocke has also been a member of the Exiles, Excalibur and X-Force.  She is a martial arts expert and possesses telekenetic and psionic powers which she can focus into a "psychic knife".
